GridVISION

A modular system-of-systems platform — no rip-and-replace.

GridVISION is a modular system-of-systems platform that overlays a utility's existing operational stack — ADMS, DERMS, OMS, SCADA, EMS, GIS, AMI, MDM, EAM — to unify data, simulation, and AI-assisted decision-making. The defining design choice: it sits on top of existing systems, never executes control actions, and explicitly preserves system-of-record authority in the underlying ADMS, DERMS, and SCADA platforms.

The Architecture

Five branded modules.

Each module is a distinct capability layer that can be adopted on its own or stacked into the full platform.

Module 01

GridFABRIC

Secure utility-grade OT/IT data fabric.

  • Unified Namespace
  • Protocol adapters (IEC-61850, DNP3, Modbus, MQTT, OPC UA)
  • Zero-Trust micro-segmentation
  • NERC CIP-aligned controls
Module 02

GridTWIN

Living digital twin.

  • Look-ahead power flow
  • Scenario simulation
  • Hosting capacity analytics
  • Weather and risk overlays
  • Simulation APIs exposed to the rest of the platform
Module 03

GridAGENT

Multi-agent AI assistant.

  • Drafts incident narratives
  • Restoration and FLISR hints
  • Switching and ETR plans
  • Citations and full audit trails
  • Always read-only until human-approved
Module 04

GridVIEW

Single-pane-of-glass operator experience.

  • Map, schematic, and BI views
  • Embeddable into existing operator consoles
  • Designed for control-room workflows
Module 05

GridCONNECT

Integration and governance layer.

  • Model registry and drift monitoring
  • Blue/green and canary deployments
  • ITSM and EAM hooks
  • Connects the platform back into the utility's operating environment
My Role

What I architected and owned.

01

The platform concept and the module decomposition.

02

The reference architecture across edge, OT data plane, intelligence, and experience layers.

03

The integration patterns and protocol coverage with the major utility operational systems.

04

The non-compete boundaries — explicit, documented, defensible — that separate GridVISION's advisory role from the execution authority of ADMS, DERMS, OMS, and SCADA. This positioning is how the platform sells into utilities without triggering procurement resistance.

05

The KPI commitments and the implementation roadmap (90-day pilot → 12-month program).

06

Co-authorship of the published GridVISION brochure and pitch materials, appearing on Wipro's external collateral as a platform contact.

Proof

Currently in delivery at a major Northeast U.S. utility.

GridVISION is currently in delivery at National Grid as GridVISION 2.0 (AI for Operations). The architecture and use cases were also defined at National Grid through a related Digital Twin and Grid Modernization Strategy engagement that I led as the Grid Modernization Strategy Advisor.

Why It Matters Now

Utilities are under simultaneous pressure.

Electrification, DER growth, extreme weather, aging assets, cyber risk, and workforce attrition are converging on utility operations all at once. Utilities cannot rip-and-replace their core systems — but they can no longer operate with siloed ones. GridVISION is the overlay strategy that's becoming the dominant architecture pattern in U.S. utility modernization.
